Living Nativity Scene in Anchuelo

Discover this weekend the magic of the Anchuelo’s Living Nativity.

Next Friday and Saturday will see this quiet village near Alcalá de Henares transformed into a genuine Christmas card: Christmas markets, shepherds with their flocks of sheep and goats, innkeepers and lumberjacks. More than 150 actors in total.

You will see the Anchuelo’s neighbors realistically staging biblical Christmas scenes: the announcement of the angel to Mary, the census, the birth, the annunciation to the shepherds and so on.

No shortage in representing the nearly extinct traditional Castilian trades: woodcutters, washerwomen, shoemakers, the baker baking bread in the wood oven or the blacksmith striking his spent anvil.

It’s a great opportunity to experience these holidays, deeply rooted in the Spanish society.

And if the cold weather gets you hungry, you can taste culinary delights such as porridge, crumbs, Ring-Shaped Pastries, chorizos ….

Anchuelo’s doors will be open from 18:30 pm on Friday 20, free entrance.
