The Constant Quene in Chapel of San Ildefonso

“The Constant Quene”, a tribute to the life of England’s Spanish Queen, Katherine of Aragon, will be performed on Tuesday, January 21 in the Chapel of San Ildefonso.

The Universidad de Alcalá announces its representation of the play “The Constant Quene”, about the life of Catherine of Aragon, to be held in the Chapel of San Ildefonso (Plaza de San Diego) on 21 January, at 20: 30 hours.

“The Constant Quene” is a historical pageant with dramatised narration and live music of the period that follows the timeline of Henry VIII’s first wife – a woman beloved by her people and often misunderstood and misrepresented by history.

This exclusive production coincides with the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden Field that Queen Katherine won against the Scots as Commander of the Realm and also with the 400th anniversary of the fire that destroyed The Globe Theatre during a performance of Shakespeare’s Henry VIII, in honour of which we include a dramatic representation of that play’s famous Act II, Scene IV.

Tickets

You can obtain your tickets at the Vicerrectorado de Extensión Universitaria y Relaciones Institucionales, sited in the Colegio de los Basilios, callejón del Pozo s/n of Alcalá de Henares.

“The Constant Quene” is sponsored by MODALIA.COM, St. Louis University Madrid and Runnymede College.

Do not miss this wonderful performance in the unique environment of the Chapel of San Ildefonso (plaza of San Diego, s / n).
